Description:
You may have heard the story or watched the movie about Oskar Schindler. Though Schindler was a member of Germany’s Nazi party and not a man of high morals, he was a deeply compassionate man who was moved by the terrible treatment of the Jews of Krakow, Poland. Using his war materials factory, he put the names of over 1,100 Jews on a work list— “Schindler’s list”—and employed them in the factory, thus saving them from the concentration camps.
When the war ended, the roles of Schindler and his workers reversed. The Jewish prisoners of war were set free, but now Schindler, a “war profiteer”, was being sought for prosecution. On the night that he walked toward his car which would take him into hiding, he discovers that his factory workers have come out to bid him farewell. They have come to thank the man who saved them. Schindler is presented with a letter signed by each person—and a ring formed with gold taken from a worker’s tooth.
What a powerful story about one man risking his life, doing what he could, to save as many as possible from certain death! Can you imagine the emotions that filled Schindler when he looked into the faces of the lives he saved?
ASAP prays that you will you be blessed by this touching scene from Schindler’s List (directed by Steven Spielberg)--and have no regrets.
