Description:
As the title suggests, this sermon refers to our predestination, which means that God has chosen every man, woman and child to share in His glory and experience His salvation. Our loving Savior is “...not willing that any should perish...” (2 Peter 4:9), and His purpose for us has not changed since the creation of man. How do we answer the call of God? This call comes to every soul, and by faith we must bring every faculty and every power that God has given us into His service. Not all may be called to be a minister or an eloquent speaker, but all are called to be a witness. Each one of us is “...made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men” (1 Corinthians 4:9). Our work must begin and end in faith. Without faith, we will fail to answer the call. We must do all in our power to cultivate our faith and grab hold of the promises of God. According to the Spirit of Prophecy, “Many have confused ideas as to what constitutes faith, and they live altogether below their privileges. They confuse feeling and faith, and are continually distressed and perplexed in mind; for Satan takes all possible advantage of their ignorance and inexperience. . . . We are to accept of Christ as our personal Saviour, or we shall fail in our attempt to be overcomers. It will not answer for us to hold ourselves aloof from Him, to believe that our friend or our neighbor may have Him for a personal Saviour, but that we may not experience His pardoning love. We are to believe that we are chosen of God, to be saved by the exercise of faith, through the grace of Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit; and we are to praise and glorify God for such a marvelous manifestation of His unmerited favor. It is the love of God that draws the soul to Christ, to be graciously received, and presented to the Father. Through the work of the Spirit the divine relationship between God and the sinner is renewed” (Our High Calling, p. 77).
