On the issue of Excedrin, many medications contain caffeine. The use of a substance medicinally is a different question to recreational use. For instance, cocaine and morphine have some legitimate medicinal uses. There may be better and more natural means to manage / overcome various health conditions aside from the use of medications which contain such stimulants as caffeine. I see medicinal use as different to recreational use (bearing in mind there are risks with medical use as well).
What if it consumed in moderation? I am not one of those people who NEED their cafe fix in the morning to get going. I can't even stand the taste of coffee. But I do love hot chocolate, chocolate cake and especially chocolate bars. I have pretty much weaned myself off black tea and I already knew sodas are bad for their sugar content so I do not have a problem there. Also Excedrin is the only thing that helps me with period cramps. I am not "controlled" by caffeine so shouldn't it be alright.
Thank you! I was sitting and drinking an energy drink when I found this video. Gonna give them up now!
Very few people think of caffeine as a drug. Despite this fact, caffeine is indeed a drug. It creates a high which is followed by a corresponding low and its use over time is habit forming and detrimental to physical and mental health. Caffeine is indeed a drug which has managed to fly beneath the moral radar of society. It has gained access to a very large variety of foods, drinks and medications. But don’t be deceived by its popularity and general societal acceptance. It would be wise to exclude the use of all caffeine from one’s diet and lifestyle.
Regarding 'controlled' caffeine usage... It is important to find personal conviction on this matter. I will say, though, that the same argument could be leveled by the occasional drinker of coffee, black tea or green tea. Taking it further, the same could be said by the social smoker or the social drinker - it doesn't control me, so it is ok. Many substances are not immediately addictive, but they negatively impact the system immediately - including the stimulation of the appetite for more.
